Waynesboro Man Arrested on Multiple Charges

Jamie Allen Staggs, age 49, of Waynesboro was arrested on Thursday, March 7 on multiple charges after an alleged incident on Collinwood Highway. Officer James Qualls of the Waynesboro Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Collinwood Highway in regard to a suspicious person. The caller stated that the suspect, identified as Staggs, was allegedly opening residents’ mailboxes and swinging a large walking stick in a threatening manner. When Officer Qualls made contact with Staggs, he was allegedly slurring his words and could not answer questions. Staggs allegedly admitted to using methamphetamine within the previous 24 hours.

Staggs was then arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication. When he was transported to the Wayne County Jail, a search was conducted, and Staggs was allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The meth was found inside an empty cigarette pack. Staggs then received two additional charges: manufacture/delivery/sale/possession of methamphetamine and introduction of contraband into a penal facility. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail $126,000.00 bond.
