Savannah Man Arrested on Drug Charges in Clifton

   Kenneth Ray Mercer, age 56, of Savannah, Tennessee was arrested on Sunday, February 23^rd on charges of simple possession of schedule VI marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal impersonation, and possession of schedule III Suboxone. Officer James Newcomb of the Clifton Police Department filed a report stating that he performed a traffic stop on Mercer’s vehicle for driving left of the center line. Upon making contact with Mercer, Officer Newcomb stated that Mercer initially gave him a false name and date of birth. After Mercer was placed under arrest for criminal impersonation, a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe containing marijuana residue. Officer Newcomb then allegedly discovered a package of Suboxone strips inside Mercer’s wallet for which he did not have a prescription. Mercer was arrested and booked into the Wayne County Jail on $8,500.00 bond.
