Savannah Man Arrested on Drug Charges in Clifton

   Kenneth Ray Mercer, age 56, of Savannah, Tennessee was arrested on Sunday, February 23rd on charges of simple possession of schedule VI marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal impersonation, and possession of schedule III Suboxone. Officer James Newcomb of the Clifton Police Department filed a report stating that he performed a traffic stop on Mercer’s vehicle for driving left of the center line. Upon making contact with Mercer, Officer Newcomb stated that Mercer initially gave him a false name and date of birth. After Mercer was placed under arrest for criminal impersonation, a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe containing marijuana residue. Officer Newcomb then allegedly discovered a package of Suboxone strips inside Mercer’s wallet for which he did not have a prescription. Mercer was arrested and booked into the Wayne County Jail on $8,500.00 bond.
