Lawrenceburg Women Arrested in Wayne County on Drug Charges Following Separate Traffic Stops

   Belinda M. Simmons, age 33, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, was arrested on Tuesday, May 18th on multiple charges following a traffic stop. Officer Darren Pounders of the Waynesboro Police Department filed a report stating that he performed a traffic stop on the vehicle driven by Simmons for a tag cover hampering visibility of the car tag. When Officer Pounders made contact with Simmons, she allegedly displayed slurred speech and failed multiple sobriety tests. An inventory of the vehicle allegedly revealed approximately 7.1 grams of marijuana, two Buprenorphine pills, a straw, and several small plastic bags. Simmons was charged with simple possession of schedule II, possession of schedule VI marijuana with intent, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under the influence. She was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $57,500.00 bond.

   Katie Ellen Green, age 27, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, was arrested on Wednesday, May 19th following a traffic stop. Deputy Austin Lanier stopped Green’s vehicle for an improperly illuminated license plate, and upon speaking with Green, the driver, he allegedly detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Green allegedly admitted to just smoking marijuana. A search of the vehicle revealed a medicine bottle containing a small rainbow-colored strip, which Green allegedly identified as “acid” (LSD). Upon their arrival at the jail, Green turned over five marijuana cigarettes to officers that were concealed on her person. She was charged with possession of schedule I LSD and simple possession of marijuana, and was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $77,500.00 bond.
