Jason Matthew Martin, age 40, of Collinwood, was arrested on Friday, October 6 following an alleged incident of domestic assault that resulted in Martin fleeing the scene. Deputy Steven Haddock filed a report stating that he and Deputy Andrew Mills were dispatched to a residence on Walker Johnson Road regarding an alleged incident of assault. The officers spoke with the alleged victim of the domestic assault and observed blood on her arm and shirt. The victim said that Martin had “slammed her to the ground” after chasing her down the driveway in their vehicle. The officers also allegedly observed various broken items in the house from Martin’s use of a baseball bat. Martin also allegedly broke out the windows on the driver’s side of another vehicle owned by Martin and the victim. Martin then left the scene, only to return some time later when he allegedly assaulted the victim again, possibly breaking her foot. Two other individuals that were present said that Martin had assaulted them as well, with one having visible injuries to his face and eye.

Later that day, Sgt. Isaac Urffer, while on patrol on Walker Johnson Road, spotted the vehicle that was wanted in connection with the assaults that had happened earlier. When Sgt. Urffer activated his lights and sirens, Martin allegedly began driving recklessly and refused to stop. Once Martin was stopped and detained, he allegedly fought with the deputies and resisted arrest. Martin then refused to submit to a field sobriety test.

Martin was arrested on two counts of aggravated domestic assault, and one count each of domestic assault, assault, evading arrest, reckless driving, driving while suspended, driving under the influence 2nd offense, and violation of implied consent law. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail with no bond.
