Jimmy Dale Vaughn, age 52, of Iron City, was arrested on Thursday, June 15 on multiple charges after allegedly threatening and shooting toward a family member. The arrest reports, filed by Deputy Steven Haddock and Investigator Matt Retherford, stated that shots had been fired at a residence on Middle Cypress Creek Road. Statements from people who were present at the time of the incident indicate that Vaughn allegedly fired a weapon from his vehicle toward his cousin’s residence, narrowly missing his cousin who was standing on the porch. The shot allegedly entered the home where three more people were located. Vaughn then allegedly left the area and returned later in the day to his own residence across the street from his cousin’s residence. Vaughn then allegedly yelled threats and fired the weapon again in an unknown direction. The reports stated that during the investigation, officers found ten spent shell casings and one full round on the ground in front of Vaughn’s home. Vaughn was arrested on charges of attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony, and three counts of reckless endangerment. He is being held in the Wayne County Jail on $230,000.00 bond.
