   William A. “Bro. Butch” Burns, 70, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Monday, October 16, 2023, at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

   Born Tuesday, June 23, 1953, in Finley, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Delbert Clinton Burns and the late Frances Louise Seltzer Burns Morris. 

   Bro. Butch held a wide range of jobs over the years including working at Dyersburg Fabrics, owning Tri-State Drywall Company in Finley, Tennessee, owning Burns Trucking, working as a commercial fisherman and farmer.  He was a devoted Pastor, serving the Lord at Memorial Baptist in Waynesboro, Tennessee, Woodville Baptist in Gates, Tennessee and Westside Baptist Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Bro. Butch was a member of the Baptist Association.

   Funeral services for Mr. Burns were held at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Finley Baptist Church. Officiating this service were Bro. Charlie Halliburton, Bro. Larry Koonce, and Dusty Malugen. Visitation for Mr. Burns was held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2023, and from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Friday, October 20, 2023, both at Finley Baptist Church in Finley, Tennessee. Interment followed in Sorrell’s Chapel Cemetery near Dyersburg, Tennessee. 

   He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Judy Anderson Thurmond Burns of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one son, William Andy Burns of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four daughters, Alyssa Burns (Jason Tilley) of Adamsville, Tennessee, Misty Sills (Josh) of Halls, Tennessee, Tiffany McGuire (Kenny) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Amelia Tovar (Chris) of Clifton, Tennessee; two brothers, Terry Burns (Paula) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Randy Burns (Beth) of Clifton, Tennessee; one sister, Susan Burns of Dyersburg, Tennessee; he was “Pepaw” to his fifteen grandchildren, Chase Burns (Taylor), Delaney Burns, Matt Dooley, Jacob Dooley, Alli Dooley, Kyler Doolin, Lexy Moore, Ian Sills, Gavin Sills, Dalton McGuire, Wyatt McGuire, Eden McGuire, Sapphire Gump, and Autumn Frierson; and three great-grandchildren, Audrey Burns, Avy Burns, and Andy Kate Berkley.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Bingham.

   Honoring Bro. Butch as pallbearers were Chase Burns, Matt Dooley, Wyatt McGuire, Dalton McGuire, Ian Sills, and Gavin Sills. Honorary pallbearers were Kyler Doolin, Jacob Dooley, Blake Hyde, and David Williard.
