Troy Hammack, a beloved member of the community, was born on February 7th, 1936 to the late Dewey Lee and Altie Hammack. It is with great sadness that we announce his passing on December 20, 2023, in Waynesboro, TN, at the age of 87.

Troy’s life was filled with purpose and dedication. After retiring from Murray Ohio at the age of 62, he embarked on a new adventure by starting his own Lawn Care business. For 24 years, Troy poured his heart and soul into his work, finding joy in every minute of it. His commitment and passion for his business were truly admirable.

In his free time, Troy pursued a variety of interests that brought him happiness. He had a love for rabbit hunting and cherished the moments spent in nature pursuing this pastime. Additionally, Troy found solace and inspiration within the walls of his church. The fellowship and spirituality he experienced there uplifted his spirit and enriched his life. Socializing with friends and nurturing his garden were also sources of great joy for him.
Troy was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Ray Hammack; two brothers, Roy Lee Hammack and Willie David Hammack; as well as a sister named Juanita Irene Howell. Their memories will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

He is survived by five daughters who meant the world to him: Wanda Smith and her husband Jeff, Shelia Carroll and her husband Bobby, Sherry Wallace and her husband Randy, Lindsey Pierson and her husband David, Leanna Plunkett and her husband Daniel. In addition to his loving daughters, Troy leaves behind three brothers: James Hammack and his wife Ola, John Hammack and his wife Ruby, Paul Hammack and his wife Margaret; as well as a sister named Mary Hammack.

Troy’s legacy lives on through the seven grandchildren who adored him: Kenda Carter and her husband Josh, Danville Wallace and his wife Brittney, Alecia Johnson and her husband Brandon, Samaria Littleton and her husband Justin, Donnie Hammack, Jr. and his wife Ashley, Cassidy Irwin, and Isaac Pierson. He also cherished his great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Mary-Grace, Camden, Brooklyn, Bentley, Deklen, Owen, Flyntlee, and Aubrie.

In his final years, Troy found love and companionship in his girlfriend Kathy Ayers. Their bond brought comfort and happiness to both of their lives.

Visitation will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Waynesboro on December 30th, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Following the visitation, a Funeral Service will take place at 2 p.m., led by Brother Joseph Wallace.
Troy will be laid to rest at Memorial Gardens of Wayne County.
