On February 20, 2024, we bid farewell to a beloved soul, Toney Dewayne Butler. Born on August 5, 1980, in Florence, AL, Toney was the cherished son of Toney D. and Wanda Gail Brewer Butler. His presence graced the Houston Baptist Church, where his spirit found solace and community.
Toney’s life was a testament to dedication and service, having gallantly served and later retired from both the United States Navy and Army National Guard. However, beyond his uniform, Toney found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether tending to his chickens outdoors or lending a helping hand to those in need, his generosity knew no bounds. Yet, above all, Toney’s heart found its true home in the company of his family, especially his treasured daughter.
In addition to his parents, Toney is survived by his wife, Hollie Butler; his daughter, Vickie Ann Butler; his brother, Wesley Lee Butler; his sister, Wanda Sue Spears; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who held a special place in their hearts for him.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Vickie Ann Butler.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN with Greg Eaton and John Scoggins officiating. Burial followed in the Butler Grove Cemetery in Iron City, TN with Military Honors. Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
