Thomas Green (Tommy) Ayers, Jr. of Collinwood, Tennessee was born April 3, 1942 in Lutts, Tennessee, the son of the late Thomas Green and Cloy Gertrude Cooper Ayers. He was united in marriage to the former Barbara Sue Brewer on May 21, 1966. Mr. Ayers was retired from Murray Ohio Manufacturing and was a member of Millrock Freewill Baptist Church in Collinwood, Tennessee and departed this life on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Williamson Medical Center, Franklin, Tennessee at the age of 78 Years, 5 Months, 12 Days.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Sue Ayers of Collinwood, TN; a son, Thomas Randall Ayers and wife, Shelly of Murfreesboro, TN; a daughter, Karen Joy Risner and husband, Tim of Collinwood, TN; grandchildren, Jessica Bradford (Zachary), Austin Risner (Selby), Trevin Ayers (Mattie), Peyton Risner (Lindsey), Garrett Ayers, Addie Risner, and Cristian Risner; great-grandchildren, Timber Kate Bradford and Fallyn Chandler Risner; a sister, Lula Joyce Hamm of Waynesboro, TN and a niece, Sherry Wood of Cypress Inn, TN. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by a grandchild, Trae Risner; a brother, E.J. Ayers and a sister, Doris Reece. Services were Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Joel Wallace officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County assisting the family. Pallbearers were Cristian Risner, Austin Risner, Peyton Risner, Trevin Ayers, Garrett Ayers, Zachary Bradford, and Ashton Pederson.
