Entered into rest on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, Mrs. Suzanne McWilliams Clardy, 89, loving wife of 66 years to Dr. Richard L. Clardy.
Suzanne was born in Waynesboro, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Wayne County High School and earned her BA from Austin Peay State University in Business and Secondary Education. Suzanne was named Miss Austin Peay State University in 1956, was a member of the “Governettes” and the English Club to name a few of her involvements. At graduation, she was awarded the Drane Award which was chosen by faculty for the outstanding member of the graduating class. Suzanne married the love of her life Richard on August 11, 1956. In 1966 she was included in Outstanding Young Women of America. Suzanne was an active member of Trinity on the Hill Church and volunteered on several committees there and in the greater Augusta community.
Family members in addition to her husband include her children: Dr. Richard K. Clardy (Wendy), Lisa Clardy Rushworth (James); grandchildren: Rachel, Will, Parker (Sonja), Cole, and Josh and great-grandson: Everett. She was preceded in death by her parents: Hogan and Ethel McWilliams; sister: Jobelle Gallien; and brother: Hogan T. McWilliams.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating. The family received friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
