Sandra “Sandy” Pitts Martin

   Sandra “Sandy” Pitts Martin was born May 23, 1943 in Waynesboro, TN to the union of the late Andrew Joe and Marguerite Bastin Pitts. Mrs. Martin was united in marriage to Chester Darrol Martin, Sr. on November 22, 1962. Mr. Martin preceded her in death on January 30, 2020. She was a member of the Daughters of Confederacy, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the North Highland Church of Christ. Many in Wayne County will remember her for her time spent as a loan officer at People’s Bank. In her free time, Mrs. Sandy loved to read and travel. She departed this life on Sunday, December 3, 2023 making her stay in this life some 80 years 6 months and 11 days

   Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory include her son, Chester D. “Chip” Martin, Jr. of Waynesboro, TN; her grandchildren, William Chester “Will” Martin, Wyatt Lee Martin, and Madison Grace Martin; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Pitts and Joy Pitts; a special niece, Shelley Davis Minatra and husband Jeff of Waynesboro, TN; a special nephew, Eric Kyle Davis and wife Regina of Linden, TN; several other loving nieces and nephews, Jane Anna Cummings and husband Jeff of Savannah, TN, Jason Pitts and wife Leanne of Iuka, MS, Johna Pitts of Richmond, VA, Martha Pitts of Murfreesboro, TN, Ross Pitts of Mt. Juliet, TN; great- nieces and nephews, Andrews Bunch and wife Sky of Pensacola, FL, Alora Pope and husband Eric of Waynesboro, TN, Kenzsley Davis Dill and husband Cannon of Linden, TN, Ethan Kyle Davis of Linden, TN, Carson Cummings of Savannah, TN, Ryder Cummings of Savannah, TN, Braylan Pitts of Iuka, MS; and four great-great-nieces and nephews, Atlas Pope, Davis Pope, Jesse Dill, and Winston Dill.

   In addition to her parents and husband of 57 years, she is preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Pitts Whitehead and two brothers, Joe Pitts and John Pitts. 

   Funeral services began at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation Chapel with Rod Littrell officiating. Burial followed in the North Highland Cemetery.
