Sandra Ellen Villines, age 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 22, 2024, at Vanderbilt Medical Center. She will be remembered as a faithful Christian, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, as well as an educator, touching the lives of many within the community.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Ward and Ruth Sullivan on October 26, 1939, Sandra grew up in South Bend, Indiana. As a new bride, Sandra came to Wayne County with her late husband, Roger T. Villines, where she started her career in education at Frank Hughes in Clifton.

Upon graduating from David Lipscomb College (now Lipscomb University) in Nashville, Sandra continued in the field of education, teaching at Waynesboro and Collinwood Elementary schools. After retiring as Collinwood Elementary’s Assistant Principal, Sandra turned her attention to supporting her husband in building their dream home just off the Natchez Trace. Once settled, Sandra looked forward to the summer return of hummingbirds to her multiple feeders and planning her next trip with family or her dear friend, Gail Bell.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Roger Villines, and brother, Bruce Sullivan. She is survived by her loving sister, Maureen Curtis of Rockford, IL, daughter, Chrystie Turner of Brentwood, TN and son, Terry Villines of Los Angeles, CA; sons-in-law Perry Turner of Brentwood, TN and Eric Hammerlund of Los Angeles, CA, as well as two grandchildren, Emily Turner of Brentwood, TN and Alex Turner of Columbia, SC.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Torrey Franklin for his support and friendship to the family over the years. They also express their gratitude to Doctor Veeramachaneni (Dr. Vee) and his staff for their kindness and care.

No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Sandra’s name to the charity of your choice.
