Peggy Sue Lay, born on March 13, 1939 in Clifton, TN, peacefully departed this life on March 2, 2024 at the age of 84 years old at her home in Clifton, TN, surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy Sue Lay was a lifetime resident of Clifton, a member of Clifton Methodist Church, and a member of the Eastern Star. Peggy worked as a teacher for 41 years and in her free time she loved spending time with her cats, playing piano, and shopping.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Abe and Clara Belle Lay.
Throughout her life, Peggy was blessed with beautiful relationships and treasured memories. She leaves behind her son, Joe Edward Lay and girlfriend, Sheila True, as well as a host of cousins.
Visitation for Mrs. Peggy Sue Lay was held at the Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Clifton Fellowship Church with the Funeral Service following at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Josh Lane officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clifton Fellowship Church, The Butterfly Foundation, or the American Cancer Society.
Interment was at Clifton Cemetery.
