   Nellie Ruth Helton was born November 29, 1939 and passed from this life peacefully on January 23, 2024. Nellie was the beloved daughter of the late Lee and Annie Wallace.

   Nellie was a cherished member of the Upper Green River Baptist Church where her faith was an integral part of her. She found joy in her hobbies which included gardening, sewing, crocheting, and canning. These activities allowed her to express her creativity and share her talents with those around her.

   Preceded in death by her loving husband James Allen Helton and daughter Kimberly Dawn Gower, Nellie also joins her siblings Ammon Wallace, Danville Wallace, Leander Wallace, Almon Wallace, Doyal Wallace, Novie Wallace, Freddie Wallace, Myrtle Jones, and Carlean Butler in eternal peace.

   She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Nellie is survived by her son, James Ray Helton and Deana; sister-in-law, Amanda Wallace; brother-in-law, Herbie Helton and Elaine; two grandchildren, Britney R Williams and Ben, Amber D. Staggs and Chris; as well as three great-grandchildren, Carson Williams, Charlie Williams, Mallory Staggs.

   Family and friends were invited to join in a visitation for Mrs. Helton at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Waynesboro on Friday, January 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., as well as Saturday, January 27th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

   A funeral service honoring Nellie’s remarkable life was held at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Waynesboro on January 27th at 1:00 p.m. Brother Jerry Flippo officiated the service, celebrating her memory and the cherished moments shared.

   Nellie Ruth Helton found her final resting place at Shields Cemetery, surrounded by the beauty of nature she so appreciated throughout her life.
