   Mary Ellen Martin Berry was born October 17, 1934 in Collinwood, TN, the daughter of the late James Earl and Ruth Morris Martin. She was united in marriage to Orbie C. Berry, Jr. on January 1, 1955. Mary was co-owner of Berry’s Package Store for 35 years, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Wayne County Republican Women, and Cypress Inn Volunteer Fire Department. Mary departed this life Monday, July 3, 2023 in Florence, AL at the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 16 days.

   She is survived by husband, Orbie C. Berry, Jr.; daughters, Susan Morgan (Tony), Nancy Morgan (John), and Lillie Ruth Brewer (Dennis), all of Cypress Inn, TN; sisters, Doris Stults and Dianne Butler (Russ), both of Iron City, TN; grandchildren, Suzanne Clayton (Alan), Mary Leigh Burns (Brandon), Haley Griggs (Justin), Jessica Bailey (Austin), John Berry Morgan (Makenzie), Phillip M. Berry II (Whitney), Norbie Brewer, and Merida Brewer; great-grandchildren, JT, Ella, Grant, Garrett, Reese, Josey, Savannah, Elsie, John Clice, Parker, Preston, Bryant, Sadie, and Jax; and several nieces and nephews.

   In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Phillip M. Berry; brothers, J.E., Raleigh, and John Frank Martin; and sister, Earlene Haynes. 

   Funeral services were held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood with Casey Jones officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.

   Serving as pallbearers were John Berry Morgan, Phillip Berry II, Norbie Brewer, Alan Clayton, Justin Griggs, and Austin Bailey.
