Mary Ellen Butler, known to some as Tinsie or Sis, was born May 8, 1934 in Iron City, TN, the daughter of the late John Henry and Bulah Wade McGee Butler. Mary was a homemaker who loved washing dishes and raking leaves. She was a faithful member of Collinwood Freewill Baptist Church. Miss Butler departed this life on July 5, 2023 at the age of 89 years, 1 month, and 27 days.
She is survived by a sister, Bonnie Lee Butler of Collinwood, TN; a host of nieces and nephews; along with many special friends and family members.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, James Wesley Butler; sisters, Bulah Kelley, Amelia Stooksberry, and Dorothy Ware.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN with Greg Eaton officiating. Burial followed in McGlamery Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
Pallbearers included Randy Butler, Ricky Butler, Ronald Butler, David Stooksberry, Gentry Todd-Hart, and Toney Todd.
