Katherine Ruth Rumbaugh Pitts, a beloved member of the Collinwood, Tennessee community, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023, at the age of 75. She was born on August 29, 1948, to the late James and Arnita Sanders Rumbaugh in Waynesboro, TN. Kathy was known for her love of the beach and nature. She spent many joyful hours working with flowers and raking leaves. Her green thumb brought beauty and tranquility to her surroundings. A woman of deep faith, Kathy was a dedicated member of the Church of God of Prophecy, where she found solace and strength. She lived out her faith by serving others as a nurse for Home Health from which she retired and worked at the Wayne County Nursing Home for many years. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Kirk Stults (Samantha) of Iron City, TN; two daughters, Shannon Holt (Stacy) of Collinwood, TN, Harmony Staggs (Keith) of Iron City, TN. Kathy also leaves behind seven sisters: Gail Risner of Collinwood, TN; Connie Pulley of Collinwood, TN; Kay Holt of Iron City, TN; Sandra Risner (David) of Collinwood, TN; Joyce Staggs of Lawrenceburg, TN; Jan Pigg of Lawrenceburg, TN; and Pam Pigg of Collinwood, TN. She will be forever remembered by her four grandchildren: Justin Daniel (Rebecca) of Waynesboro, TN; Kyle Stults (Callie) of Iron City, TN; Mac Holt (Kana) of Collinwood, TN; and Townsend Staggs of Iron City. Additionally, Kathy’s legacy will live on through her six great-grandchildren: Addy Daniel, Mayleigh Daniel, Kinsley Daniel, Kase Stults, Cadee Stults, and Creeton Holt. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Coy Rumbaugh and Dave Rumbaugh, as well as two sisters, Peggy Pigg and Rhonda Malone.
A visitation was held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Collinwood Church of God of Prophecy in Collinwood, TN. A funeral service was held at the same location at 3:00 p.m., with Richard Neal officiating. She was laid to rest at the Memorial Gardens in Collinwood, TN, with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
