Josephine Howell was born in 1935 in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Clinton Griggs and Madge Cannon Griggs. She was married to the late Loyd Howell of Waynesboro. She is survived by daughters Vicky Howell and Pam Howell; son, Jeff Howell and daughter-in-law Phyllis Crosby Howell; grandchildren, Kelbie Howell Risner (husband Zack Risner); Jace Howell (wife Julianne Blackburn Howell) of Clifton; great- grandchildren, Zane Risner and Hazel Howell; one brother, Kenneth Griggs of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine was preceded in death by brothers Clinton Griggs, Jr., David Griggs, Barney Griggs and Walter Griggs. Josephine was best known as the bookkeeper at her husband/son’s business in Waynesboro, The Family Music Center. In addition to being a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she was friendly and cheerful, an excellent homemaker/cook, and was a lifelong beauty. Josephine departed this life on February 11, 2024.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 15, at 11:00am at Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro TN with Brad Campbell officiating. Burial will follow with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
