Mr. Johnny Russ Daniel was born March 17, 1944 at home in Collinwood, TN to the union of the late Rev. J.W. “Preacher Willie” and Madgie Lee Russ Daniel. He was united in marriage to the former Katherine Thompson on May 20, 1967. Mr. Daniel owned and operated Daniel’s Meat Processing where he worked as a meat cutter, worked for the Wayne County Board of Education as a maintenance man, and was a member of the Collinwood Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Daniel departed this life on February 11, 2022 in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 77 Years, 10 Months, 25 Days.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katherine Thompson Daniel of Collinwood, TN; two sons, Brent Daniel and Heath Daniel (Shelia), both of Collinwood, TN; five grandchildren, Brooklyn Kimble, Trent Daniel, Katlyn Means (Josh), Brier Daniel (Adrianna Darnell) and Braylee Daniel; four great-grandchildren, Jailey Means, Maebri Denton, Josie Mae Means, and Peyton Darnell. He is also survived by three sisters, Dean Daniel and  Edna Luker (Herbert), both of Collinwood, TN; and Joyce Sue Cobb (Bill) of Niceville, FL.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Daniel was preceded in death by seven brothers, Jimmy Daniel, Fred Daniel, Coleman Daniel, Neal Daniel, Don Daniel, Gene Daniel, C.A. Daniel; three sisters, Pauline Daniel, Marie Bryant, Lenice Ryan.

Services were held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Collinwood, with Greg Eaton and Steven Turnbow officiating. Burial followed in the Memorial Gardens at Collinwood with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.

Those honored to have served as active pallbearers included Thomas Ryan, Gaylon Daniel, Herbert Luker, Toby Stricklin, Trent Daniel, Shane Scott, Billy Reed, and Brier Daniel. Those honored to have served as honorary pallbearers included Jeff Webb, Daryl Foster, Robert Vandiver, Robert Bohen, Dexter Stricklin, and Jody Linville.
