Jimmie Nell Turman Pavatte Hicks

   Jimmie Nell Turman Pavatte Hicks was born on April 18, 1934 in Waynesboro, TN to J. Fay and Louise Turman.  She was a member of the First Christian Church in Waynesboro, TN and was a 1951 graduate of Wayne County High School.  She departed this life on March 8, 2021 at the age of 86 years.

    Jimmie Nell, like her father and many other members of her family, was a lifelong musician and entertainer.  She began singing around the same time she learned to walk and talk, and continued to entertain her friends and loved ones with her beautiful voice throughout her entire life. 

   She is survived by two daughters, Sarah Maynard and husband, Almon of Smyrna, TN and Emma McWilliams and husband, Jeff of Cypress Inn, TN; four grandchildren, Ryan, Rylee and Rhianna McWilliams and Rebekah Adcock and husband, Brandon and one great-granddaughter, Audrey Claire Adcock.  She is also survived by a special cousin, Grace Belew Trammell Henderson and many other cousins, nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. 

   Jimmie Nell was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sue Ellen Pavatte; her grandson, Roger Smith; her husband, Charlie Hicks; her former husband and father of her children, Gene Pavatte; her sisters, Joyce Sue Black and Rose Marie Helton; her brother, J. Fay Turman, Jr. and her nephew, Bob Turman. 

   Services for Jimmie Nell will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 11 am at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Waynesboro, TN  with Greg Eaton and Cary Crews officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Waynesboro, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County assisting the family.  Visitation will be Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 9 am to service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jeff McWilliams, Ryan McWilliams, Almon Maynard, Cole Turman, Drew Turman and Richard Black.
