   Freeman Eugene McDonald departed this life at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee, from complications from an acute illness on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the age of 69 years, 6 months, and 26 days.
   Freeman was born in Hohenwald, Tennessee, on May 6, 1951, to Thelma Sue Harville McDonald and the late James Leonard McDonald. He was an only child and the apple of his mother’s eye.

   In 1969, he graduated from Frank Hughes High School in Clifton, Tennessee. After graduation, he worked for a few years in a factory, then for the highway department, and on the towboat, until he found his calling in corrections. Freeman dedicated his life to law enforcement with a career spanning over 30 years. He started at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department in 1982 and retired from the Adamsville Police Department in 2012. He was passionate about his job and every aspect of it.

   Freeman is survived by his wife, Polly McDonald; his daughters, Natalie McDonald and Patra (Danny) Lineberry, all of Clifton, Tennessee; his sons, James McDonald (Ashley Moore) and Johnathon McDonald (Sadie Jackson), all of Adamsville, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Kalee and Konor Lineberry, Emma and Harper McDonald, and one due December 2020. Freeman’s grandchildren held a special place in his heart and certainly kept a smile on his face.

   Services were held on December 6, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Adamsville, Tennessee, with Johnathon McDonald officiating. Burial followed in the Neill Cemetery at Savannah, Tennessee.
