Dessie Maxine Brown Pitts was born April 3, 1959 in Florence, AL the daughter of the late Dessie Cox Brown. She was united in marriage to Marshall Pitts in 1992 and he preceded her in death in 2015. Maxine worked for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Wayne Care and several places in Florence, AL. In her spare time, Maxine enjoyed crocheting, collecting western memorabilia, reading, and gaming. Maxine departed this life on August 1, 2023 in Florence, AL at the age of 64 years, 3 months, and 29 days.
She is survived by son, Jason Brown (Brenda) of Collinwood, TN; daughter, Amanda Kelley (Kevin) of Iron City, TN; brother, Butch Brown (Sherry) of Hot Springs Village, AR; sisters, Carolyn Hubert (Marvin) of Ashland, OH; sister-in-law, Sue Brown of Killen, AL; grandchildren, Beth Brown, Stacie Kelley, Kyle Kelley, and Katie Kelley; great-grandchildren, Emberkyn Kelley and Remington Kelley; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her mother and husband, Maxine is preceded in death by sisters, Wilma Biggers and Ruth Otto; brother, Bull Brown; aunt, Zora “Nanny” Kirby; and cousin, Nell Holliman.
Memorial graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 10:00 am at Florence Cemetery in Florence, AL with burial to follow. Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
