Ray’s life was a testament to hard work, strong values, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ray was born on August 6, 1940, in Florence, AL, to the late Carl Wesley and Ada Pearl Berry Phillips. On October 7, 1975, he found his lifelong companion in Rosena Rich when they were united in marriage.

Ray dedicated many years of his life to his work at TVA before venturing out on his own and founding Rayco Management, Inc. as a contractor with TVA. His strong work ethic and determination served as an inspiration to those around him.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ray truly appreciated the simple pleasures in life. Whether it was working alongside his son on the farm or caring for his cats at the barn, Ray found solace in tending to what mattered most to him. His flower garden thrived under his care, and he took pride in a pristine yard. Ray found happiness in helping others and always enjoyed visitors stopping by.

He also cherished spending quality time with his granddaughter, Raylee. The bond they shared was undeniable as they explored together on their trusty golf cart and created lasting memories that will forever be treasured.

In moments of relaxation, Ray found solace in listening to old country music and cheering on his beloved Alabama football team. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he enjoyed sharing those moments with loved ones.

Ray’s legacy lives on through the love he shared with those closest to him. He is survived by wife, Rosena Rich Phillips of Florence, AL; his son Cloyd Ray “Chip” Phillips Jr. (Dena) of Florence, AL; grandchildren Raylee, Weston, and Jesse; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Statom (Ralph) of Collinwood, TN, Teresa Evans (Dwight) and Wanda Phillips of Killen, AL; and Roseanne Rich, both of Waynesboro, TN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
