Mr. Charles Ralph Potete was born at home on Indian Creek on February 17, 1946 in Waynesboro, TN, the son of the late James and Laura Duncan Potete. In August of 1965, he was inducted in the United States Navy where he honorably served his country until he was honorably discharged in July of 1969. Once back at home, he was united in marriage to the former Hilda Skelton on August 9, 1974. He enjoyed his life working as a farmer and was a member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Potete departed this life on March 25, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 1 Month and 8 Days.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Hilda Skelton Potete of Waynesboro, TN;
a daughter, Kristen Potete Jones and husband Cody of Waynesboro, TN; four grandchildren, Emily Jones, Elliana Jones, Eva Jones, Charles Jones; two brothers, Colin Potete and wife Sylvia of Waynesboro, TN, Leo Potete and wife Dorothy of Savannah, TN; a sister, Mary Morgan of Waynesboro, TN.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Potete was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Potete and a sister, Bernice Moser.
Services were held on Monday March 28, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro with John Dial officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery at Collinwood with full military honors, Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting.
