Brenton E. Grinder, Sr., Collinwood, Tennessee, was born August 28, 1940 in Linden, Tennessee, the son of the late Wesson Ledbetter and Ocie Mildred Harder Grinder. He married the former Saundra Kay Byrd on August 4, 1967. Mr. Grinder was a retired Agriculture Teacher with the Wayne County Board of Education at Collinwood High School, Collinwood, TN. He was a member of the Highland United Methodist Church, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1969. Mr. Grinder departed this life on Friday, May 23, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 79 Years, 8 Months, 25 Days.
He is survived by his wife, Saundra Kay Byrd Grinder of Collinwood, TN; sons, Brent Grinder and wife, Susan of Lawrenceburg, TN and Patrick Grinder and wife, Krystal of Arab, AL; grandchildren, Brenna Grinder, Caroline Grinder, Cole Kelso and Peyton Kelso; a brother, Randall Grinder of Charlotte, NC and a sister, Chris Smith of Charlotte, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Grinder was preceded in death by a brother, Nelson Grinder.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Harold Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Methodist Church Cemetery, Lawrenceburg (Wayne County), Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County assisting the family. Pallbearers will be Stan Horton, Billy Reed, Eddie Woodside, Herbert Luker, Larry Nelson and Mark Greer with honorary pallbearers being Joshua Leighton and Jimmy Gann.
