CHS Trojans and Trojanettes Advance to Regional Tournament

The Collinwood High School Trojans and Trojanettes basketball teams participated in District Tournaments last week. The Trojanettes played against Perry County in the first round but unfortunately were defeated. They then faced Frank Hughes in the consolation game and won, bringing their record to 19-7. Meanwhile, the Trojans competed against Waynesboro in the first round but also lost. They then played Perry County in the consolation game and lost again, leaving their record at 7-21.

On Friday, February 21st, the Trojanettes faced off against the Lady Vikings of Perry County. The girls had a challenging start, trailing at halftime with a score of 25-27. Unfortunately, they were unable to mount a comeback and ultimately lost the game, finishing with a score of 52-62. The lead scorers of the game were Sophia Keeton and Belle Robinson with 11 points each. Myah Gray-Ayers contributed 10 points, followed by Ellie Blalock with 9 points, Tevy Statom with 6 points, and Tessa Statom with 5 points.

After the girls' game, the Trojans faced off against the Wildcats. The Trojans had a strong first half but were still behind by 8 points at halftime, with a score of 32-40. They fought hard in the second half, but ultimately could not catch up, ending the game with a score of 68-55 in favor of the Wildcats. The lead scorers of the night were Harrison Rich and Cole Risner with 14 points each. Brody Holt contributed 12 points, followed by Tate Linville with 8 points and Patch Craig with 7 points.

On Saturday, February 22nd, the Trojanettes played against the Lady Lions of Frank Hughes. The Trojanettes had a strong first half, leading the game with a score of 26-9. Continuing their impressive performance, the Trojanettes secured a victory over the Lady Lions with a final score of 58-22. The lead scorers of the game were Tevy Statom with 12 points and Ellie Blalock with 10 points, followed by Tessa Statom with 9 points, Sophia Keeton with 7 points, Sarah Creecy with 7 points, Belle Robinson with 6 points, Abby Smith with 4 points, and Myah Gray-Ayers with 3 points.

After the thrilling girls' game, the boys' team faced off against the Vikings from Perry County. The Trojans put up a strong fight and were just 2 points behind at halftime, with a score of 21-23. The game kept fans on the edge of their seats as the boys continued to battle hard, but ultimately fell short, finishing with a final score of 53-47. The lead scorers of the night were Harrison Rich and Cole Risner, each scoring 14 points, followed by Brody Holt with 8 points, Stetson Holt with 6 points, Patch Craig with 3 points, and Tate Linville with 2 points.
