Waynesboro American Legion Post 130 will hold a membership drive roadblock fundraiser on Saturday, November 7th, on the square in Waynesboro. Post 130 members will be on the square from 7 a.m. until 12 noon, handing out membership applications and accepting donations.
The U.S. American Legion was founded in 1919 and is the largest and most influential veterans’ service organization. It is made up of 1.6 million wartime veterans who focus activities on the organization’s Four Pillars: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Defense, Americanism, and Children & Youth. Post 130 welcomes all new membership applications from anyone interested in joining their group.
The Sons of the American Legion (SAL) was founded in 1932 with the purpose of honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans. SAL Squadron 130 in Waynesboro is asking for more to join their group, especially those interested and able to help with the service projects they complete for Wayne County veterans. Males whose parents or grandparents served in the U.S. military are invited to submit a membership application.
The American Legion Auxiliary membership is more than 550,000 strong. With more than 7,600 units in communities, members are fiercely dedicated to serving, helping, and meeting the needs of veterans, the military, and their families. Anyone interested in joining the Post 130 Auxiliary may apply at https://www.legion-aux.org/Joining.
For nearly a century, The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of The American Legion have worked steadfastly, side by side, promoting patriotism and national security while advocating for veterans. Anyone interested in joining any of these organizations is encouraged to apply, and Waynesboro Post 130 accepts all donations to be used for service to Wayne County veterans.
