Zachary Christan Norton, age 28, of Lutts, TN, was arrested on Monday, September 4 following a traffic stop performed by Deputy Darren Pounders. Deputy Pounders filed a report stating that Norton was allegedly driving with the passenger side brake light out on his vehicle. When Officer Pounders pulled Norton over, he allegedly smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, Deputy Pounders allegedly discovered approximately 6.7 grams of meth and a “loaded” syringe. Norton allegedly stated that the liquid in the syringe was methamphetamine. Three hypodermic syringes in total were allegedly recovered from the vehicle. Deputy Pounders also allegedly discovered approximately 1.4 grams of marijuana from Norton’s vehicle. In addition to the drug charges, it was also discovered that Norton had a suspended driver’s license. He was charged with driving while license suspended 1st offense, possession of meth with intent, simple possession of schedule VI marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $90,000.00 bond.
