The Waynesboro City Commission met in regular session on Monday, September 25, 2023 at City Hall in Waynesboro. All commissioners were in attendance, including Mayor Jeff Davis, Vice Mayor Lynn Warren, Commissioner Jeff Howell, Commissioner Chris Bevis, and Commissioner Tony Creasy. Also in attendance were City Manager John Hickman and City Recorder Paige Casteel.

Mayor Davis called the meeting to order, and Commissioner Howell offered the invocation.

Commissioner Creasy made a motion to approve the minutes from the previous regular meeting. Commissioner Bevis seconded, and the minutes were approved.

Under department reports on the agenda, City Manager Hickman distributed copies of the monthly cash collateral statements and investment reports for the commissioners’ review.

The first item of new business was the declaration of a parts washer at the former Lincoln Brass building as surplus and for it to be sold on govdeals.com. Commissioner Howell made a motion to approve, and Vice Mayor Warren seconded. The washer was unanimously approved as surplus.

Two water taps were next on the agenda. City Manager Hickman said that all necessary fees had been paid for both taps. The first was located on Richard Lane. Commissioner Bevis made a motion to approve, and Commissioner Creasy seconded. The motion carried unanimously.

The second water tap was on Edgehill Lane. Vice Mayor Warren made a motion to approve, and Commissioner Howell seconded. That tap was unanimously approved as well.

Under open items on the agenda, Commissioner Howell said that he was notified earlier that day that the storage buildings would be coming the next day to be set up on the small parcel of city-owned property earlier agreed upon for display purposes.

Vice Mayor Warren said that he had heard some questions about whether or not the gazebo would remain at its current location on the square throughout the upcoming holiday season. The commission agreed that it would be unless the new property owner decides against it; however, the new owner has given no indication that he would have a problem with leaving it there for now. City Manager Hickman said that the spot will be ready at the City Park for the gazebo when it is time for it to be moved.

With no further business to come before the commission, Commissioner Howell made a motion to adjourn. Vice Mayor Warren seconded the motion, and the meeting was adjourned.
