The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will hold two youth hunting events in Wayne County during the month of February.
Wildlife Officer Bethany Watson is hosting the TWRA Youth Raccoon Hunt on February 3, 2024, at the Beech Creek Coon Hunters Club. This hunt is open to ages 6-16 and the event is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Hunters will be grouped with a dog handler and guide, who will provide the firearm for the hunt. To participate, hunters only need to wear boots and bring a flashlight or headlamp.

The Annual Ashtin Grimes Memorial Squirrel Hunt has been rescheduled for February 24, 2024. Wayne County Officer Brandon Taylor organizes this event yearly with the local community to give young hunters an exciting day in the woods. Youth ages 6-17 may register for this event.
The hunt begins at the Waynesboro Church of Christ at 6 a.m., where hunters will be provided a breakfast before being paired with dog handlers and safety officers. Groups will then head to the field to participate in the hunt and return to the church for lunch and prize drawings.

To join either of these hunts, hunters 10 years and over must meet hunter education requirements and possess applicable licenses.
TWRA Youth Raccoon Hunt
WHERE: Beech Creek Coon Hunter’s Club, Waynesboro, TN. Turn off Hwy 13 North onto White Road and clubhouse is approximately ¼ mile on left. Follow signs.
WHEN: Saturday, February 3rd, 2024. Cooking and sign-ups will begin at 4:00 PM. Drawings will take place at 5:00 PM with hunting following immediately after.
