Wayne County Teen Killed in ATV Accident

In the evening hours of October 6th, 2023, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Perry County Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to a fatal ATV crash in the Flatwoods area of Perry County. They responded to a call involving two Perry County teenagers and a Wayne Count teenager.

Upon their arrival at the scene, officers and medical personnel discovered that the ATV crash had sadly caused the fatality of the young Wayne County lady, identified as Makayla Tuck, age 18, of Clifton. Makayla was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred off the roadway on private property.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, conducted the investigation of the fatal crash. Officials said the Perry County teenagers were found not to be impaired. After the investigation, the fatal crash was ruled to be accidental.

Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems offered his condolences, stating, “Our prayers go out to the families affected by this tragedy.”
