Wayne County Dixie Youth Sweetees Headed to World Series

The Wayne County Dixie Youth Softball Sweetees 5-6 year old girls battled from the loser bracket in the State Tournament after Game 2, coming back to win the State Championship title after defeating the previously undefeated Centerville team in Game 5 and Game 6 on Monday, July 17.

On Friday, July 14, Wayne County began by defeating Perry County 14-5 in Game 1 of the State Tournament. On Saturday morning, July 15, the Wayne County girls went on to suffer a tough loss against Chester County, 17-14.

Later on Saturday afternoon, Wayne County defeated Madison South in Game 3 by a score of 14-9. This put Madison South out of the tournament.

On Monday, the Wayne County girls handily defeated the previously undefeated Centerville team in Game 5 by a score of 23-12. This game advanced both teams to the Championship Game, with each having suffered only one loss in the tournament.

The Championship Game was played later on Monday, July 17. Wayne County faced off against the tough Centerville team once again and showed off their skills with a winning score of 22-15. This win officially made the Wayne County Sweetees the State Champions!

The Wayne County girls will travel to Alexandria, Louisiana on July 27 to play in the World Series as Team Tennessee! The twelve girls, four coaches, and the girls’ parents and families truly appreciate all the support, donations, and encouragement that has been sent their way to make this World Series dream a reality.
