As predicted by meteorologists leading up to last weekend, strong straight-line winds moved through Wayne County on Saturday morning, causing property damage and power outages. The Bevis residence on South Main Street in Waynesboro (pictured above) fell victim to a large tree that came down perilously close to the home, taking down power lines and blocking Songer Street as it fell. The storm system that moved through here was the same system that reportedly spawned at least two tornadoes in southern Kentucky and caused three fatalities in Alabama.
