On July 12th, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Waynesboro Police Department responded to a rollover motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment on Highway 64 at the old Lincoln Brass building.

According to information gathered at the scene, a 2019 Nissan Frontier driven by Stephanie Runions of Hohenwald, Tennessee, was traveling east on the Highway 64 Bypass when the driver fell asleep. The vehicle traveled across the westbound lanes, leaving the roadway and impacting the embankment along the side of the roadway at the red light. Witnesses said the vehicle slid sideways across the embankment and rolled off the hill towards the old Lincoln Brass building.

Emergency personnel were able to extract Runions from the vehicle without rescue equipment. Runions was transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt Medical Center with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Waynesboro Police Department was assisted at the scene by Wayne Medical Center EMS and Waynesboro Fire Department members.
