Old Timers’ Day, the annual festival in Collinwood that draws visitors from all over, is coming up this Saturday, September 2nd. Hosted by the Collinwood Beautification Board, the event provides a great opportunity for everyone in the community to get together for fun, food, and fellowship!

Crowds of people begin to gather in downtown Collinwood beginning very early on the day of the event. Many people will be out and about at sun-up to enjoy the country breakfast offered by McGlamery Baptist Church. From breakfast on, activities continue in anticipation for the big parade. That’s when the park is usually at its fullest. By 8 a.m., vendor booths will be in full swing, showcasing local arts and crafts, homemade goodies, and delicious food, including hamburgers and hot dogs at the American Legion booth and fresh homemade lemonade from the Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Collinwood Mayor Glenn Brown will lead everyone in prayer to start the day. The National Anthem will be performed by Mrs. Lisa Calton and her granddaughters, Shawna and Shaina. Mayor Brown and emcee for the event, Chuck Koblentz, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Following the parade, the Grand Marshals, Collinwood Softball & Basketball Teams and Cheerleaders, will be introduced.

Mr. and Mrs. Old Timers, “Smitty” Smith and Robbie Dicus, will proudly head up the parade and mingle at the park afterward. Lineup for the parade will be from 9:00 until 9:30 at the recreation building, with the parade beginning its route through town at 10:00 a.m.

Live music in the park will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m. with Country Mile, followed by Eddie Thompson & Band of Brothers at 12:30. Dancers from Laura’s Studio of Performing Arts will perform at 3:00 p.m.

Vendor set-up for the event will be on Friday, September 1st from 4:00-7:00 p.m., and on Saturday morning until 8:00 a.m. All vehicles must be out of the park by 8:00 a.m. Vendors are welcome; ALL NEW AND RETURNING VENDORS must call and sign up to reserve a spot as soon as possible. For more information on the event or to sign up as a vendor, call Peggy Chambers at 931-212-9016 or 931-724-9918. Both Old Timers’ Day and Tractor Pull t-shirts will be on sale the day of the event.

Old Timers Day is more than just a festival, it’s a day where everyone is welcome and can find something to enjoy in the wonderful small town of Collinwood, Tennessee. Don’t miss out on this fun annual event!
