On Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th, 2020, the American Legion and local officials held a ceremony at the Veterans’ Memorial outside the Wayne County Courthouse to honor our Wayne County veterans who gave their lives in service to their country. Also recognized were Wayne County veterans who have passed away since Memorial Day 2019.
Below is a list compiled by Ms. Sunny Barnhart of Wayne County’s deceased veterans from May 2019 – May 2020. “As we remember our beloved veterans who have passed away this year, please take time to remember and embrace those we still have with us,” said Ms. Barnhart. “They are our greatest treasures and deserving of our love, affection, attention, and devotion.”
Ms. Barnhart worked diligently to compile these names using word of mouth, obituaries, and funeral home announcements. She extends her apologies for any names that were not included.
