The Butterfly Foundation was founded in 2007 in memory of Ryleigh Stegall of Waynesboro. Ryleigh was a vibrant child who contracted Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia at age three and passed away just before her eleventh birthday. The Stegall family created the Foundation to assist local families who had children with life-threatening or life-altering conditions.
Since 2007, the Foundation has raised and given in grants over $1,230,000 to more than 410 children’s families. The monies come from individual donations and proceeds from events and fundraisers sponsored by school groups, businesses, and organizations. The major fundraiser is the annual 5K Run/Walk held on the first Saturday in June each year. This year will mark the 15th Annual 5K and 1-mile Fun Run.
The Foundation will begin sending out sponsor letters this month to dedicated sponsors and to potential sponsors. ALL of the sponsorship money goes directly to the families served by the Foundation which is operated by an all-volunteer Board. These forms need to be returned NO LATER THAN APRIL 5, 2024, so the Board can begin the necessary planning to carry out a successful Run. Last year’s Run saw over 500 registered runners and raised $114,000. Help The Butterfly Foundation make this year’s Run just as successful!
