CHS Trojanettes are Runner-Up in District Tournament

On Tuesday, February 15, the Collinwood Trojans hosted the Culleoka Warriors to play their first tournament game. The Trojans came out strong and kept it close in the first half ending up 4 points ahead with a halftime score of 33-29. When the Trojans came out in the second half, they were on the path to victory and ended up in overtime. Unfortunately, the Trojans ended up being down by 9 points with a final score of 64-55 finishing 5th in the district tournament. The lead scorer of the night was Benson Blalock with 17 points. Following Blalock was Joe Houston Thompson with 14 points. Fletcher Thompson had 9 points, Christian Zepeda had 7 points, Noah Haddock had 5 points, and Peyton Ward had 5 points.

On Wednesday, February 16, the Trojanettes hosted the Richland Raiders to play their first tournament game. Coming out, the Trojanettes had a rough start but pushed through to come out ahead by halftime being ahead 7 points – 26-19. Coming back out in the second half the Trojanettes held their ground and came out on top to win by 12 points – 64-52. The lead scorer of the night was AC Whitehead with 18 points and 4 rebounds. Following Whitehead was Alyssa Gray with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Tessa Statom had 10 points and 6 rebounds, Harlee Haddock had 9 points and 4 rebounds, and Hayley Siems had 2 points and 4 rebounds.

On Saturday, February 19, the Trojanettes traveled over to Waynesboro to play their county rivals, the Lady Cats. With it already being an intense game, the Trojanettes kept the fans on the edge of their seats keeping close in score but just behind the Lady Cats at halftime, 30-22. Coming back out the Trojanettes worked hard but were unable to score the needed points to win. The final score was 63-42. AC Whitehead was the lead scorer of the game with 16 points. Right behind Whitehead was Tessa Statom with 12 points. Alyssa Gray had 9 points, Danlee Bray had 3 points, and Harlee Haddock had 2 points.    Thank you to everyone coming to our tournament games and rooting us on.
