With the Thanksgiving holiday this week, that means Christmas is right around the corner. After we enjoy the turkey, football, and family on Thursday, it’s time to start getting ready for the next big holiday.

The 2023 Waynesboro Rotary Christmas Parade will kick off the county’s Christmas celebrations on Saturday, December 4th at 6:00 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade is “The Spirit of Christmas,” and the parade will undoubtedly have beautifully decorated floats that represent the theme. As always, there will be antique vehicles. ATVs, and the WCHS Marching Band playing favorite Christmas music. Don’t worry, the jolly old man himself, Santa Claus, will make his annual appearance too!

Lineup for the parade will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot. The parade will begin on Dexter Woods Memorial Boulevard before going around the square, and will end on South Main Street near WCHS.

Anyone interested in participating in the parade may call John Hickman at 931-722-5458 to confirm your spot.

“Christmas on the Square” will also be held on the day of the parade, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and ending at 7:00 p.m. Businesses and vendors around the square will be open for Christmas shopping, or just browsing through the many items available for purchase.

“A Stroll Through Christmas,” sponsored by the Clifton Rotary Club, is held on the second Saturday each December on Main Street in Clifton. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, December 9th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The beautiful Clifton Main Street will be illuminated with sparkling Christmas lights and decorations, and businesses/vendors will be open and set up to meet all your Christmas shopping needs.

The Collinwood Christmas Parade will be held this year on Saturday, December 9th at 7:00 p.m. This will be the second year for the Collinwood parade to be held at night, and the twinkling Christmas lights and decorations will no doubt be beautiful once again. The theme for the 2023 Collinwood Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Collinwood Beautification Board, will be “Old Fashioned Christmas.” More information on the Collinwood parade will be coming as the event draws near.

Everyone is invited to come out for these holiday events across our county to participate in the spirit of Christmas with friends, family, and loved ones.
