Tennessee’s winter months can cause many challenges for cattle producers. When cattle are cold stressed, they need to eat more just to stay warm. Energy intake requirements can increase up to 20%. That can translate into 3.5 to 4 extra pounds of hay intake or 2 to 2.5 extra pounds of supplement per day.

Wayne & Hardin County cattle producers are invited to attend a Winter Cattle Nutrition meeting on November 1st from 5:00pm-7:30pm at the Woodmen of the World Building in Waynesboro to learn more about this topic and to network with businesses and organizations that support farmers.

We will begin the meeting at 5pm with a Vendor Visit. Dinner will be served at 6pm and the educational component will begin at 6:30pm. Calvin Bryant from UT Extension, Lawrence County will be our guest presenter.

Please contact our office by October 25th to register. 931-722-3229 or [email protected].
