Agricultural News: Upcoming Fall Livestock Programs

   We have many opportunities for our livestock producers this fall. Below is a list of upcoming programs and dates:

Feeder Calf Sale: August 9th at Hardin County Stockyards. This is an excellent opportunity to market your 300-800lb calves. Cattle will be sorted in uniform lots based on breed, weights, sex, and grades.   Contact HARDIN COUNTY Extension Office (731-925-3441) or THE SALE BARN (731-925-3287 / 931-722-3100) for more details and to consign your calves!

Master Small Ruminant Producer Program & Grazing School: August 16th and 17th at Mid TN Research & Education Center, Spring Hill, TN. There is a fee. Call me for details. Each session is 9am-5pm. Deadline to register and pay is Monday, August 9th.

Middle Tennessee Grazing School is August 17th from 1pm-5pm in Spring Hill, TN. Free. This class is suitable for cattle, small ruminant, and horse producers.

BQA trainings will start this month. Please contact our office to register. Space is limited. Dates are as follows: August 30th: 9am or 1pm; Sept. 7th: 1pm or 6pm; Sept. 13th: 9am or 6pm; Sept. 21: 6pm.

Forage Field Day will be September 11th from 9am-2pm at Martin Haggard’s Farm.  There is no cost to attend this field day, but you must RSVP to our office by Thursday, September 2nd.

Basic Beginner Beef Course sessions will be held on Monday evenings Oct 11th – Nov 8th. This course is designed for producers with little to no experience. There is a course fee. Participants will earn his/her Master Beef Certificate upon completion.  BQA Certification required to attend. Call me for details or to register for this course.

Fall Master Beef will be November 12* & 13th at our office. Space is limited to the first 35 participants.  *IMPORTANT: Those who attend the field day on September 11th will only have to attend Saturday, November 13th. Contact our office ASAP if you wish to attend, as we have limited space. There is a course fee. You must Register and pay by Sept. 2nd to reserve your spot. If these dates do not work for you, we will have our usual Master Beef early spring. 

Direct Marketing and Food Labeling Workshop will be Tuesday evening on November 16th at our office. Time TBD

Farm Budget Workshop will be December 6th at 6pm at our office.
