Ms. Peggy Monroe was recently honored with a proclamation from the State of Tennessee for being elected to serve as National Historian for the American Legion Auxiliary’s National Convention. Ms. Monroe is only the second national officer ever to be elected from Tennessee. State Representative David Byrd presented the proclamation to Ms. Monroe last week on Memorial Day.
In part, the proclamation read,
“WHEREAS, as the American Legion Auxiliary’s 100th national historian, Peggy Monroe has the distinct privilege of recording the organization’s century of service to our veterans; and
WHEREAS, a retired thirty-nine-year educator who always stressed patriotism and love for our veterans in her classroom…
WHEREAS, Peggy Monroe epitomizes the spirit and commitment that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and
WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that Ms. Monroe be formally recognized for her dedication to the American Legion Auxiliary and her unwavering commitment to community service.”
