The Wayne County Dixie Board met on May 28th and made the official decision that the 2020 spring season will be canceled. League officials made the tough decision after months of delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and ultimately decided that it would simply not be feasible to go forward with the 2020 season at this point in time.

Wayne County Dixie Youth President Chuck Moser issued the following statement: “It is with deep regret that the Waynesboro, Collinwood, and Clifton Dixie Youth organizations have decided to cancel the 2020 season in the best interest of every player, parent, and spectator.”

“With some restrictions still in place by the State of Tennessee and the insurance company that insures our leagues, players, umpires, and spectators, it is just impossible to go forward with the season,” Moser continued.

Player refunds will be issued for all three leagues in the county: Waynesboro, Collinwood, and Clifton. Player refunds for Waynesboro will be available for pickup on Tuesday, June 16th from 4-6pm, and on Thursday, June 18th from 6-8pm at the Waynesboro Sportsplex. Refunds must be picked up by a parent or guardian.

Clifton player refunds will be available for pickup on Tuesday, June 16th from 4-6pm and on Thursday, June 18th from 6-8pm at the Clifton ballfield. Anyone who doesn’t want a refund will be given a credit for next year. The person that filled out the form and paid the fees will be the person receiving the refund.

Collinwood Dixie Youth officials stated that anyone who has paid fees will receive a refund, and they are working on the easiest and most effective way to distribute the refunds. They will notify parents as soon as a decision has been made on a date and time.

League President Chuck Moser says that “the entire board is heartbroken” that they had to make the tough decision to cancel the season. They appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this difficult and unpredictable time.
