County Project Showcase

The County Project Showcase will be on March 19th at the Extension Office. Registration will be at 5:30, with the contest beginning at 6:00. The blue ribbon winners in the demonstration contest in 4th and 5th grade and the interactive exhibits in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade are invited to compete! The event is also the county contest for the 4-H Baking Contest. All blue ribbon winners in the classroom contest for the baking contest are also invited to compete! Baked items can be delivered to the Extension Office anytime between 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M.

Honor Club Meeting

Our next 4-H Honor Club Meeting will be on March 11th at the Extension Office. All students in grades 7-12 are invited to attend! The Honor Club Meeting activities will consist of fun leadership-building activities and a 4-H Honor Club application workshop. Refreshments will be provided.

High School Baking Contest

This year, we are implementing a new 4-H Contest! There will be a category for high school 4-H’ers who love to bake, allowing them to compete in the County Baking Contest. The item to complete for the contest is a cake – either 8” or 9” round or up to a 9”x13” cake. Cakes baked in shaped pans are welcome in the contest, as long as the pan is not larger than a 9”x13”. The 9th and 10th graders are to bake a 1 layer cake, and the 11th and 12th should bake a two layer cake. The 9th and 10th graders should use all icing decoration and edible decorations, but no fondant.  The 11th and 12th grade may use icing or fondant. The cakes will be judged based on appearance, taste, and texture. The cake and decorations must be made entirely by the 4-H member, and must be decorated entirely by the 4-H member. The cakes will be judged during the County Project Showcase on March 19th, and can be brought anytime between 8 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. that day.
