The Christmas holiday is here, which brings us another year of great decorations in Waynesboro lighting up the town with cheer. The Downtown Waynesboro Committee’s judges had the opportunity to go out and see all of the beautiful decorations and light displays that our wonderful community residents and business owners created this year. Every entry was decorated differently and each home and business owner put in a lot of time and effort to dress up the streets and sidewalks in holiday style.

The five judging groups consisted of residents from all across the county. They were amazed with lots of beautiful lights and decorations they saw around town. Any resident or business located in the city limits was eligible to register for the contest at no cost for a cash award. All entries were judged on lights and decorations, creativity, originality, and overall appearance. “The original intent in starting the Christmas Decorating Contest was to light up the whole town with Christmas spirit, making it beautiful and bright,” said Martha Kelly, president of the Downtown Waynesboro Committee.

Of all the contest participants that adorned their homes and businesses with festive decor and twinkling lights, the judges picked the winners for this year’s contest to be Andrew Helton Law and the Hammond’s Family Home to take the honors for 2021.    The Downtown Waynesboro Committee would like to say a special thanks to all that stepped forward to help make the contest a success. This was all about the residents and our local businesses to bringing Christmas spirit to our town during the most wonderful time of the year!
