Waynesboro American Legion Conducts Flag Retirement Ceremony

Posted

Waynesboro American Legion Post 130 conducted an American Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The ceremony began at 9:00 a.m. and consisted of properly disposing of American flags which had become unserviceable due to wear and tear, soiling, or fading.

American flags which required retiring were dropped off prior to the ceremony at the Waynesboro American Legion Post Hall or at the Wayne County Veterans Service Office located in the former courthouse on the square.

The ceremony was conducted at the Wayne County Highway Department on Hog Creek Road. The Highway Department and Road Superintendent Chuck Moser were kind enough to provide the location and equipment necessary to conduct the ceremony. The ceremony was directed by the new Post 130 Commander, Mr. George Mansfield.
