Tragic Incident Claims Life of Local Child

On Monday, March 2, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a tragic accident resulted in the death of 16‑month‑old Isla‑Ann Daniel, daughter of Adam and Ashley Daniel of Collinwood. The Collinwood Police Department and local first responders arrived on the scene within minutes of the 911 call and immediately initiated life‑saving measures. Despite their efforts, they were unable to revive the child.

The Collinwood Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the Daniel family. During this profoundly difficult time, the family and the department respectfully request the community’s continued prayers, compassion, and support.

For those wishing to make donations to help the family with expenses, an account has been set up at the Wayne County Bank called the “Isla Ann Daniel Memorial Account.” There is also an account set up on mealtrain.com for Adam and Ashley Daniel. Meals, gift cards, and/or monetary donations can be made there as well.

There will also be a “Ride for Isla” on Saturday, March 28th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Starting location will be the Dixie Youth Park in Collinwood, traveling past the Daniel family home and onto the Natchez Trace, then off the Trace onto Highway 64 West. The ride will end at Waynesboro City Park, where hamburgers and hot dogs may be purchased. All proceeds, including the $25 per rider fees, will go directly to the Daniel family. Motorcycles, jeeps, hot rods, and all other vehicles are encouraged to participate.
