Setup Underway for Annual Festival of Trees

Posted

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce is preparing to welcome many visitors to the annual “Festival of Trees,” a forest of Christmas trees uniquely decorated by local businesses and organizations. This has become one of the most beloved traditions since the event first launched. Once again, the court square administrative building in Waynesboro will be adorned with the sparkling glow of holiday cheer for the upcoming Christmas season. The Festival of Trees will open to the public on November 24 and will remain on display until December 31. Guests can expect a dazzling show of creativity. This event is free for everyone to enjoy.

This year there are several participants from all across the county. Viewing will be between 8am ani 4pm, Monday through Friday. However, this year the festival will be open to visitors on Saturday, December 6, 13 and 20 from 3pm to 6pm for those unable to attend during normal business hours. New to the festival, all viewers will have a chance to vote on their favorite tree. Just stop by the Chamber office to submit a ballot before leaving. The tree with the most votes will receive a prize, compliments of the Wayne County Chamber.

A transformation of the building will commence into a wonderland of holiday magic on Monday, November 17 when tree setup begins, and must be completed by Friday, November 21. Participants provide their own tree, stand and decorations. There are limited spots available. There is still time for your business, organization, or club to participate. Just call the Chamber office at 722-3575 to enter.

“Our goal is to bring the community together as we celebrate the holiday season,” Wayne County Chamber Executive Director Martha Kelly said. “The festival is a celebration of local businesses, organizations, and clubs which has been an enjoyable event for many years. We hope to add new participants yearly who have a love for their community and, of course, a love of Christmas to help ensure this tradition continues moving forward for many years to come.”

Ultimately, the Festival of Trees is about connection - a place for neighbors to gather, traditions to continue and the county to come together and celebrate the reason for the season in true holiday spirit. The Wayne County Chamber cheerfully invites you to attend this cherished tradition.
