Sarah Shirley James

Sarah Shirley James, a beloved elementary school teacher and cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on January 15, 1933, Sarah dedicated her life to the education and nurturing of young minds, inspiring countless students with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to teaching.

Throughout her career, she was not just an educator; she was a guiding light in the lives of many. Her passion for instilling knowledge and her genuine love for her students left an indelible mark that will be remembered for generations to come. Sarah approached her work with an open heart, and each child who crossed her path benefited from her wisdom and care.

Sarah is survived by her three devoted sons, Mike James and wife Lenesa, Steve James, and William Aurie James and wife Marilda. Their lives and success are a testament to the love and support she provided them. Additionally, they carry forward the legacy of their mother’s spirit through her cherished grandchildren, Anna, Emma, Ethan, and Christopher Ryan James.

Visitation was held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN with Bro. Mike Hammonds officiating. Burial followed in the Memorial Gardens of Wayne County in Waynesboro, TN.
