Salvation Army Lawrence County is Now Lawrence & Wayne Service Unit

The Lawrence County Salvation Army Service Unit, hosted by the First Presbyterian Church, has operated for more than twenty years. With the approval of Sarah Moore, Divisional Service Extension Director for The Salvation Army, NJ Pope, Pastor of Waynesboro First Fellowship Church, met with Carole Ivey, Director of Lawrence County Salvation Army Service Unit, to work out details of a joint venture of Lawrence and Wayne County Service Unit.

First Presbyterian has maintained a casework schedule for those twenty-plus years, and will continue to do so with Wayne County now included. Effective November of this year, the casework will be handled from the office located at God’s Storehouse, 425 Franks Street in Lawrenceburg, on the third Friday of each month from 10:30 until 11:15 a.m.

Waynesboro First Fellowship Church will recruit volunteers for disaster work. Three volunteers have already served when asked to come to the site of the recent industrial explosion in Bucksnort, TN. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer in major disasters may contact Waynesboro First Fellowship Church at 931-332-4422.

Also, The Salvation Army Camp in Burkesville, Kentucky, just north of Cookeville, Tennessee, is available for youth to attend in 2026. More information will be given as the date and time approach.

The Red Kettle is coming to Waynesboro, beginning on Friday, November 28, 2025, and ending on Saturday, December 20, 2025. The Kettle will be at the entrance to Piggly Wiggly in Waynesboro. The Kettle will only be available on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to ring the bell on Fridays and Saturdays during the time period the Red Kettle is set up. Each shift volunteered for is two hours.
